The attractive village of Monyash is some 5 miles west of Bakewell on the B5055 and about 5 miles south east of. Buxton. The name of the village of Monyash derives from ‘Many Ash Trees' that grew around the nearby lead mines.. Nearby are many popular Tourist attractions including:-

Haddon Hall, near Bakewell

Haddon Hall has been home to the Manners family for 800 years. Little has been added since the reign of Henry VIII. The gardens are believed by some to be the 'most romantic gardens in England'

Chatsworth House, Chatsworth

With a garden, farmyard and adventure playground, Chatsworth, near Bakewell, is one of the premier tourist attractions in the UK and is the home of the Duke of Devonshire. The house was built in 1707 for the 1st Duke of Devonshire onto a much earlier building designed by his great great grandmother Bess of Hardwick

Matlock & Matlock Bath

Peak Rail at Matlock Station, Matlock. A beautiful preserved railway line travelling The Heights of Abraham. At Matlock Bath you can take the Cable Car to this country park with adventure play areas, woodland trails, gift shops with stunning views across the Derbyshire Dales. If you have children, don't miss Gulliver's Kingdom, Matlock Bath with its rides and attractions for children between the age of 2-13.

Tissington

Tissington Hall has been the home of the FitzHerbert Family for over 500 years. Tissington is also famous for the walks along the disused railway called the Tissington Trail. There is also Trekking at Tissington Trekking Centre, Tissington Wood Farm. Lathkill Dale and the Limestone Way, both very popular with walkers are also close to Monyash.

Bakewell

Bakewell is a popular tourist town in the Peak District. It has many fine buildings and a 700 year old bridge made of the attractive local brownstone. The town is famous for its Bakewell Tart which originated when a customer of the Rutland Arms ordered a Strawberry Tart but the cook made it upside down, with the egg mixture on top of the strawberry jam instead of using it in the pastry.

Buxton

Buxton is one of the highest towns in England and with its position in the Peak District is a popular tourist destination. It is surrounded by higher hills. The town is famous as a spa town and was established by the 5th Duke at the end of the 18th century. In earlier times - The town has a beautiful Crescent built to rival Bath. The Devonshire Royal Hospital opened in 1859 is claimed to have the widest dome in the world - 156 ft in diameter. Buxton has its own well dressing in July. Poole's Cavern and lovely woodland walks are nearby.
